Orginially I was going to choose ‘Tragedy’ by the Bee Gees in tribute to Robin Gibb, but upon reflection I think he would have prefered this selection, ‘You Should Be Dancing’. I’ve always been a big fan of the Bee Gees ever since I was a little kid. I suppose they were one of the first musical groups I was ever introduced to. This classic song immediately brings to mind John Travolta and flashing lights out on the disco floor.

2012 continues to be a sad year for music as yet another music great passes away.

By far one of the best songs by Imogen Heap, the first time I head ‘Hide and Seek’ it drew me near to tears. Through the use of tight harmonies and slight electronic tuning, this mainly a cappella song is brilliant because it is so unique and sounds totally distinct from what’s currently popular on the musical market.

Oh Cher, where do I begin? This song first came out in 1998 and it’s still going strong in my book! I love this song, so empowering! Not only can you break it down on the dance floor with this song, but you can use it to forget all of those ungrateful men who broke your heart. Fun fact, ‘Believe’ is one of the first uses of Auto-Tune technology. How music has fallen since then.

Discovered after listening to Madeon’s fantastic remix ‘Pop Culture Mash-Up’, this song has the typical, shallow pop love themes that have been rehashed over and over again. However, the bouncy dance beat with an incredibly successful chorus makes me want to listen to it over and over, and possibly introduce my mainstream friends to it.

An extremely depression song to be sure, ‘Creep’ and its brutal honesty makes it an attractive song for anyone suffering due to the realization of what they are. I think in some ways, this song rings true for everyone at some point. Musically, the songs quiet chords creep along and build into a powerful chorus of heart break.

Something a bit different from the music I’ve been featuring, THePETEBOX is a live-looping artist, producing all parts of the track through vocals and incredible beat-boxing skills. Combining the always catchy ‘Pink Panther Theme’ with fresh new beats and styles, ‘Panther Dance’ is a unique song that proves beat-boxing can be more than a skill on a talent show.

oh my god! all of my favourite song. i love it.

I’m glad you like it! :D <3

Every now and then, one needs to wander into the obscure. Here is your daily dose of obscure. Noel Fielding, of Mighty Boosh fame, has developed another comedy show entitled Luxury Comedy. While the few episodes I’ve seen have been incredibly bizarre, the show has one universal truth; it’s theme song is extremely catchy.

fororchestra:

When I hear an orchestra cover by someone (or attend a concert), almost every time I disagree with the tempo, the harmony, the atmosphere, and the arrangement style.

I knew I couldn’t be alone. So when I started ‘For Orchestra’ I wanted one thing: to make the product I wish was out there - from…
